UC alumnus arrested on suspicion of stabbing and killing two people and injuring a third

Until last week, Carlos Domínguez was a third-year Biological Sciences student at UC Davis. He has now been arrested on two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.


A 21-year-old man who had been a student at the University of California at Davis until last week was arrested for allegedly killing two people with a knife and wounding a third, police said.

During a press conference Thursday, Davis Police Chief Darren Pytel reported that Carlos Dominguez was arrested Wednesday after 15 people reported an individual matching the suspect's description, who was near a park in the city center.

was arrested on two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder

The police chief did not reveal the alleged motives for the attacks and specified that it was not known if Domínguez knew the victims.

"[Domínguez] was hanging around the neighborhood where the second homicide took place. He had a long knife in his backpack and was wearing the same clothes as the [suspect] in the third attack," Pytel said.

"That is highly unusual and unique."

According to university authorities, Domínguez had been a third-year Biological Sciences student until April 25, "when he was separated for academic reasons."
