A couple died in a fatal accident in Bavaria on Friday.
An Audi driver collided head-on with the couple's car while overtaking.
Roden – Two people died and three others were injured in an unsuccessful overtaking maneuver in Lower Franconia on Friday (May 5).
According to previous police investigations, a 51-year-old Audi driver was driving from Roden in the direction of Ursprung and wanted to overtake a truck.
He probably overlooked an oncoming car - it came to a head-on collision, as reported by the police headquarters in Lower Franconia.
Failed overtaking maneuver claims two dead in Bavaria
In the other car sat an 87-year-old and his 86-year-old wife from the Main-Spessart district.
They were so badly injured in the accident that they died at the scene.
The person who caused the accident and his passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital by the ambulance service.
The truck driver was in shock.
State road 2438 was completely closed at the accident site for several hours.
In addition to patrol crews from Marktheidenfeld, the rescue service, a rescue helicopter, the road maintenance department and numerous volunteer fire brigades from the surrounding communities were also on site.
The public prosecutor's office and the police have started investigations into the precise course of the accident.
