Why The Earth Uprisings Still Haven't Disbanded

The movement is organizing a new demonstration near Rouen this weekend. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin had however announced its dissolution after the violence in Sainte-Soline.

After the mega-basin of Sainte-Soline and the Toulouse-Castres motorway, the environmental movement Les Uprisings of the Earth (SLT) is tackling the project for a major bypass east of Rouen.

A festival is organized over three days in Léry (Eure) from this Saturday, May 6 to protest against the road project carried by the State.

The government had however announced that it had initiated the dissolution of SLT at the end of March, after the violence in Sainte-Soline.

A month later, the association is still alive and well.

Before the National Assembly, on March 28, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin charged the movement, denouncing its “

extreme violence

”.

The organization would be at the origin of “

Invasions of companies

”, “

Strong atrocities against the police

”, “

Destruction of property

” or even “

Calls for insurrection

”, listed the Minister, adding that he had "

decided to initiate [sa] dissolution

".
