Green generation, really?
Today's young people are said to be much more aware of the climate cause.
However, according to a survey carried out by the Alliance France Tourisme (AFT) and published in
Le Journal du Dimanche
, the vast majority of 18-34 year olds still prefer the car or the plane to go on vacation.
Like their parents!
Half (53%) of the young people questioned assure us that they always or often choose their means of transport according to the environmental impact.
However, the car is the most cited means of transport (65%) for going on vacation, ahead of the plane (54%).
The train won only 35% of the vote, and only one in ten young people used carpooling.
In addition, 87% of young people surveyed would " definitely or probably
" accept
a free plane ticket to spend a weekend in Europe, according to the study.
Holidays like their parents?
The other lessons of the study published by the
JDD
are unsurprising.
18-34 year olds generally go on holiday to the same places as during their childhood: to the sea (51%), to the mountains in summer (24%), to the countryside (22%), to the city (21 %), skiing (16%) or amusement parks (16%).
Young people still seem marked by the previous generation, since 70% of those questioned say they adhere “
totally or globally
” to the way of traveling of their parents.

On the other hand, the 18-24 year old generation aspires to travel further.
“
Europe seems to have become the level of proximity for young people
”, explains to the
JDD
Leslie Rival, general secretary of AFT.
But in this period, inflation curbs their ardor.
For this summer, almost half (49%) of young people plan to go to France, compared to 37% in Europe.
