Berlin/Hannover - Summer is approaching, and with it the most beautiful weeks of the year.

But those who haven't booked their vacation yet may have to dig deeper into their pockets than planned.

A study has shown that Germans have to pay more for a trip than tourists from other countries.

But that's just a fly in the ointment.

The tourism giant Tui reported back in January that higher prices and reduced capacities can be expected for the 2023 summer vacation for short-term travel bookings.

In particular, travelers with specific ideas about a holiday region or hotel could only get nothing or pay more if they book at short notice in the summer.

In 2023 there will therefore be no "last-minute summer" like in previous years.

"On the contrary: Shortly before departure, the prices will tend to be higher rather than cheaper because the hoteliers and airlines also know that there are still a lot of bookings at short notice," says Ebel.

Spontaneous bargains would be the absolute exception.

Tui boss with an urgent warning: When it comes to air travel, demand is greater than supply

When it comes to air travel, the Tui boss draws attention to an additional problem, here there is also the reduction in capacity at the airports.

The demand for holiday flights exceeds the supply.

"That's why these cheap offers with isolated exceptions for marketing campaigns will no longer exist as they used to."
