Customers of the Shein pop-up store received visitors on Monday, May 8, for its last day of opening. Environmental activists from the Extinction Rebellion movement carried out a punch action to "denounce the social, ecological and health impact of the multinational," they explain on Twitter.
Next to the endless queue to enter the store of the Chinese "fast-fashion" brand, activists lay down on the road, like corpses, blocking traffic, reports Le Parisien. A megaphone in hand, a protester tried to raise awareness among customers patiently queuing for several hours, pointing to the harmful consequences of the brand on the planet.
The low-cost clothing brand opened a pop-up shop in the heart of Paris for this long weekend. If prices are already cheap, a "phew price" selection was offered at low rates to consumers. In these times of inflation, the brand seeks to attract young people and French people looking for low-cost clothing.
