Positive balance at the end of the folk festival - but there were also complaints

2023-05-08T14:26:56.427Z

Highlights: The 2023 folk festival in Bruck is over, but the consumer behavior of visitors has changed. With around 32,000 litres of beer served, festival host Jochen Mörz easily fulfilled the goal from the previous year. 4000 chickens alone were slaughtered, delivered and feasted by the visitors at the Schönacher poultry farm in Ingolstadt. The response to the Behördentag, which used to be very frequented, left much to be desired this year.

It was a hive of activity for ten days, but now the 2023 folk festival is over. The results make the festival host and organizers optimistic. In one respect, however, the consumer behavior of visitors has changed.

Fürstenfeldbruck – When Stadtkapelle conductor Paul Roh had his 22-member ensemble sing the polka "Good evening, good night" as a farewell melody at 40 p.m. on Sunday, the 2500-seat beer tent was already yawningly empty. But the last evening was no longer decisive for the overall balance: With around 32,000 litres of beer served, festival host Jochen Mörz easily fulfilled the goal from the previous year, which was also aimed at by the König-Ludwig-Schlossbrauerei. And this despite the fact that the price per litre of 10.80 euros was higher than ever before. Brewery spokesman Richard Sturm also registered in an initial assessment that this time significantly more non-alcoholic beverages were consumed.

The Hendl Balance Sheet

At the same time, 4000 chickens alone were slaughtered, delivered and feasted by the visitors at the Schönacher poultry farm in Ingolstadt for the Brucker Volksfest. Once again, the music nights with popular party bands proved to be an absolute crowd hit and magnet for the partying young people. There, in particular, everything was mostly peaceful, police and security patrols only had to intervene in a few fisticuffs.

Nevertheless, folk festival consultant Markus Droth and head of organization Daniel Brando will think about their review. Above all, the response to the Behördentag, which used to be very frequented, left much to be desired this year. Those responsible can only speculate about the reasons, "but we have to push even more," says Droth.

Guests want to make reservations as early as 2024

On the other hand, the wine hut, which was built for the first time by Dieter Pleil, was not only the finale. The 100 seats were regularly densely occupied. "A lot of people wanted to make a reservation for next year," reports the novice restaurateur, who is probably ending his debut, which is associated with a financial adventure, with a plus-minus-zero balance.

This is mainly thanks to the volunteer circle of friends. "The great community spirit is amazing," says Pleil. At times, there was even an oversupply of volunteers, says counter boss Charly Stecher, who "always preferred to pour a little more rather than less" into the glasses at the bar. "The warmth of the guests was overwhelming."

The showmen

The showmen also attest to the same to the folk festival visitors. "We have served very decent and understanding people this year," praises the almond and peanut roaster Kerstin Münch, who has been represented in Bruck for decades. Olching shish kebab roaster Rudi Hechtl agrees: "The response was great."

My Area

Like most showmen, Droth is more than satisfied with this year's results, which is why he wants to stick to the spring date. And Jochen Mörz also wants to hold on to his now more than 30-year presence in Bruck, where the festival host celebrated his 66th birthday on Saturday and was made an honorary member of the Piccolo Boxers.

But with the end of the festival, his contract with the city also expired. In May, the Festwirt position will be advertised nationwide. "In principle, anyone can apply, but there are also strict criteria that must be met," says Droth. After the Pentecost holidays, the city council decides in a closed session.

Residents angry about noise and wild beasts

As in previous years, the folk festival did not pass by the neighbours without leaving a trace. In addition to the noise of music, residents of the residential complex on Marthabräustraße have once again complained about the many wild animals in the front gardens. Officially, the passage is forbidden, but the signs are ignored.

As promised by the city last year, police and security patrols patrolled the site this year. "But only on certain days," complains a neighbor. In addition, another toilet house was built, but the use cost 50 cents, and probably deterred many visitors. Folk festival consultant Markus Droth wants to take up the Biesler problem again. However, he does not want to discuss the already regulated music volume, "otherwise we can stop the whole folk festival right away". Lo
