Starnberg – Dozens of volunteers, associations and children's institutions collected waste in Starnberg and the surrounding area at the city's Ramadama on Saturday. "The waste yield is impressive: Together, the energetic people of Starnberg have collected around four cubic meters of waste, which is roughly equivalent to the amount that fits into a large container or a minibus," said Lena Choi, spokeswoman for the city administration. In other words, 40 garbage bags were filled.

A total of around 50 citizens of Starnberg were involved. "I would like to thank all the volunteers for their commitment," Mayor Patrick Janik said in a press release. At the joint closing party in the Starnberg depot, the helpers were able to exchange information about their work, there was a snack and prizes such as vouchers for the seaside resort or the cinema were raffled, the city administration further announced. The city of Starnberg would like to thank all helpers as well as the Starnberg companies that donated the raffle prizes.
The Weltladen participates in the big collection with its own campaign – it accepts discarded mobile phones and smartphones, which are then either recycled or resold as second-hand goods. They will be accepted at the Weltladen (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 18, weltlaeden.de/starnberg) or at a Weltladen stand on Saturday, 13 May, at the weekly market.
