The Germering police checked cyclists on Monday. They caught several bike thieves.
Germering - The aim of the bicycle control day was, on the one hand, to control the behaviour of cyclists. On the other hand, the controls should help to combat the high number of bicycle thefts, as the police reported. Background: Since the beginning of the year until the end of April, 65 bicycle thefts have already been reported in the service area of the Germering police (Alling, Eichenau, Germering, Puchheim).
With headphones
In one case, a cyclist was stopped because he was wearing headphones while driving and was not aware of the traffic around him. When asked about the origin of the bicycle, he stated that he had bought the bicycle. Another cyclist told the officers the same story. In both cases, this could be refuted by subsequent research by the Germering police.
Out of the bushes
In the third case, the bicycle was registered as stolen in the police search file. The owner stated – from the point of view of the officials not very credible – to have found the bike in the course of Monday morning in a bush. At the fourth successful check, the cyclist immediately said that he did not know where he got the bike from.

The four bicycles were seized by the police. If possible, they will be returned to their rightful owners. The charges against the four cyclists for theft are submitted by the Germering police to the public prosecutor's office. One of the four cyclists has been noticed by the Germering police several times for the same offenses.
Without a driver's license
A 16-year-old from Munich became conspicuous when a civilian police patrol wanted to carry out checks in the parking lot of Lake Germering. The 16-year-old drove in the Mercedes of an 18-year-old acquaintance quickly backwards out of a parking space and almost touched the civilian emergency vehicle. The 16-year-old was then subjected to a traffic check and stated that he did not have a driver's license. He just wanted to take a test drive in the parking lot. His parents have been informed of this and he is now awaiting a charge of driving without a license.
