Landsberg - For three years, the competitions of the Lech-Ammersee district association have been paused. Next weekend they will finally take place again: In Landsberg, 14 music groups from the entire district will face the verdict of a jury of experts. The scoring games start at 9 a.m. in the gymnasium of the Platanenstraße school center.
The participating bands and orchestras perform pieces of music of different genres in different levels of difficulty. Whether traditional brass music or concertante-symphonic works: listeners are welcome and can look forward to variety as well as the highest level of musical enjoyment. Admission is free.
The competitions will be opened by Bernhard Weinberger, head of the Lech-Ammersee district association in the Music Association of Upper and Lower Bavaria. Punctually at 9 a.m., the first classification begins. Music and judging will take place until 16 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Platanenstraße school center in Landsberg.
Unlike in previous years, this year most of the bands will compete in the upper school in the concert competition. But also school and youth orchestras in the elementary and lower school, as well as middle school orchestras are represented. At the highest level, two orchestras are evaluated. Friends of traditional brass music can look forward to polkas, waltzes and marches in three levels of difficulty: Listeners can expect well-known works such as "The Phantom of the Opera", "Alpina Saga", "Lord Tullamore", "Surfin' USA" as well as the concert march "Abel Tasman", or the polka "Late Love".
For their performance, the bands and orchestras each receive points in ten different categories, for example "Rhythm and Interplay", "Tempo and Agogics" or "Intonation and Sound Balance". However, there will be no open scoring on Saturday, as shown in the picture, in which the judges raise points boards after each presentation. On the festive evening on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Musikbund of Upper and Lower Bavaria on July 30 in Denklingen, the certificates will be presented to the association's board of directors.
