Bar Yochai: Thousands at Rabbi Pinto's traditional lighting in Ashdod - voila! Judaism

Highlights: Rebbe Rabbi Josiah Pinto landed in Israel yesterday and participated in the traditional lighting in Ashdod. The event was attended by thousands from all over the country. Hundreds of Israeli children who were 3 years old passed before Rebbe Rabbi Pinto and his son Rabbi Yoel Pinto, who cut some of their hair as has been customary among Jewish tradition for hundreds of years. The historic event will take place on the day of the creation of the world, at the Menora Mivtachim Hall in Tel Aviv.

Thousands participated last night in the traditional lighting led by Rebbe Rabbi Josiah Pinto and his son and successor, Rabbi Yoel Moshe Pinto, held in memory of the divine Tanna Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai Zi"a, in the plaza of the Shova Yisrael Yeshiva at 34 Shevet Binyamin Street in Ashdod, accompanied by singers, pietans and an extended orchestra.

The mass event opened with the lighting of Rebbe Rabbi Pinto and his successor, Rabbi Yoel Moshe Pinto, to honor the soul of the Divine Tanna. The event became a tradition for many years and thousands from all over Israel participated.

Afterwards, Rebbe Rabbi Pinto gave words of encouragement and awakening and addressed the current issues on the agenda. Next to him sat Ashdod Mayor Dr. Yehiel Lasri.

Rabbi Pinto also spoke about his complex health condition and called on each and every one of the participants to join the daily circle of Zohar learners as per the regulation of the Gedolei Yisrael, "Together we will finish ten thousand books of the Holy Zohar - on the <>th day of Elul," said Rabbi Pinto.

At the end of the lighting, the traditional halaka stand began. Hundreds of Israeli children who were 3 years old passed before Rebbe Rabbi Pinto and his son Rabbi Yoel Pinto, who cut some of their hair as has been customary among Jewish tradition for hundreds of years.

As stated, in recent days and in the midst of the ceremony, Rebbe Rabbi Pinto called to join the virtue of reading the daily Book of Zohar together with hundreds of thousands from all over the world who are expected to finish together about 10,000 Zohar books, at the historic event that will take place on the <>th of Elul - the day of the creation of the world, at the Menora Mivtachim Hall in Tel Aviv.
