Starnberg - Now the merger has been completed: The adult education centres of Starnberg and Herrsching are now operating under the name Volkshochschule Starnberg Ammersee. The association of the same name is registered in the register of associations. The merger is intended to make the regional educational institute fit for the future and also have a positive effect on the range of courses offered.
The signs of the educational institution at Bahnhofplatz 14 in Starnberg have already been installed. The new flag was hoisted these days by the former chairmen of the adult education centers Starnberg, Tim Weidner, and mayor Christian Schiller from Herrsching. This makes the merger perfect. The only thing missing is the installation of a full-time board, he is to be elected in two weeks. The citizens of a total of eight supporting municipalities (Andechs, Berg, Feldafing, Herrsching, Pöcking, Seefeld, Starnberg and Tutzing) with 75,000 inhabitants are addressed with the course offer. An expansion by other municipalities is possible, those responsible explained at a press conference.
Streamlining administration creates room for project design
From the proposal of the Volkshochschule Herrsching to the implementation, it was an "exciting time", Tim Weidner recalled. Schiller gave the reason for the merger: The merger increases the state subsidies, which means that the offer can be maintained and even expanded. The streamlining of the administration is intended to free up capacities for the conception of new courses, for youth education projects, for example on the topics of sustainability and democracy. Schiller spoke about the social responsibility of the municipalities, which is fulfilled with the courses, and in this context the importance of low-threshold educational opportunities for the population as a basis for freedom. The Volkshochschule Starnberg Ammersee wants to offer even more integration courses in the future and use the new, larger network when looking for lecturers.
