If you are one of those who have already started planning the upcoming upgrade, you probably understand that alongside the excitement, the renovation adventure involves quite a few hurdles and challenges

Like many industries in the past year, the renovation industry has also recorded a sharp increase of about 30% in rates, making the task of renovation almost impossible for many. Despite this, there are quite a few creative ways to bring about far-reaching changes with not very large budgets that will significantly improve the living experience.

The first of these is the use of color, the easiest and cheapest way to create change. The cost of the materials amounts to hundreds of shekels, and even if you are not a certified painter (but can stick to the instructions and have patience) you can definitely paint on your own and thus save thousands of shekels. It is important to choose the right color palette that will match the colors and materials present in the given space. Remember that you don't have to paint all walls; Painting some of them will also do the job and/or a certain part of the wall that will help delimit and define the various functions in the space. It is possible to paint for the entire height of the wall or only up to a certain predetermined height, thus increasing the depth and height dimensions. If you decide to do it yourself, a warm recommendation is to search and watch tutorial videos on the networks, where you can learn – step by step – how to paint easily and efficiently and of course draw a wealth of cool ideas, information about techniques, textures, patterns and applications.

Tiles or parquet? Design by Hava Zadok (Photo: Maya Avgar)

There's no doubt that flooring is the element that most affects the atmosphere and appearance of a space, and if your flooring is worn, broken and tired (or simply in a shade and pattern that does more harm than good) you should consider replacing it. The good news is that there is usually no obligation to dismantle the existing flooring, you can simply glue new tiles over it but you will be required to dismantle the old panels and install others in their place. Gluing new flooring, in a different shade or size, can work wonders and upgrade the look from end to end. Alternatively, you can place parquet on the old flooring that by its nature immediately creates a warm feeling in the space. By the way, even in bathrooms, where there is no need to replace existing plumbing, flooring can be glued. Gluing flooring is also a great way to upgrade our balcony and breathe new life into it.

We love our kitchen; Love it big, with lots of storage space and since today most kitchens are an inseparable part of the public space, it is important that beyond being practical they will also be elegant and impressive. Yes, the kitchen furniture is a piece of furniture in every respect. Kitchens today cost a lot of money and we are not always able to purchase a new kitchen, so how can we upgrade our kitchen?

Well, changing the handles can do wonders and it is not for nothing that many see them as jewelry. Before buying new handles, remember to measure the dimensions and distances between existing drilling holes, unless they are button handles.

In addition, the kitchen facades can be replaced since the cost of replacing the facades is not at all comparable to the costs of a brand new kitchen and you can choose completely different facades in appearance, material aspect or shade. This way you can make your kitchen new (at least externally) without actually replacing it. At the same time, sometimes the kitchen structure allows us to add additional carpentry units and thus we can make its use much more practical.

Most contractor apartments do not have enough lighting points and usually, as part of the standard, only one central point has been installed in the ceiling in each area. This issue can also be overcome without carving electricity points throughout the house, thus saving thousands of shekels. First, keep in mind that you can move a light point or chain from it another light point that lights up from the same switch, which relatively eases costs, but suitable lighting fixtures can also do the job. For example, to one lighting point you can connect a long busbar with several spotlights or purchase light fixtures with long wires that can be stretched in different directions and thus direct the lighting locations.

Textiles are also an amazing way to bring textures and colors to different home spaces, along with warmth and intimacy. It is worthwhile and advisable to invest in specially made curtains in the public space, but in the bedrooms you can definitely install ready-made curtains and they will definitely do the job. Don't skip a rug in the living room, just make sure it's the right size. It must be at least the width of the sofa and the preference is to be 30 cm wider than it on each side. Some pillows on the sofas and you're all set.

A combination of old and new, accessible and expensive can certainly do the job and save us sums of money. Sometimes all that is required is to replace the dining chairs or incorporate a new decorative element to create a new life in our living environment.
