Bavaria's municipal hospitals are on strike on Tuesday. Medical staff are demanding inflation compensation and higher salaries.
Munich – On Tuesday (9 May), there will be a nationwide strike in Bavaria's hospitals. Doctors resign from their jobs. The press spokeswoman for the Marburger Bund Bayern, Karin Lange, confirmed to the German Press Agency (dpa) that the reduced staff would correspond to the occupation of a weekend shift. Emergency care is nevertheless guaranteed throughout the country.

Municipal hospitals in Bavaria go on strike: Doctors demand more money – emergency care guaranteed
Affected by the strike are the state's municipal hospitals, which account for around 60 percent of Bavaria's clinics, according to dpa. According to the Marburger Bund, several thousand participants will join the strike to enforce the demands of the doctors: inflation compensation and a 2.5 percent increase in salaries.

"We don't want anyone to be harmed," Lange said on Monday (8 May) in the state capital of Munich. Accordingly, medical emergencies are also taken care of during strikes. The fifth round of negotiations between the union and the employers' association VKA is scheduled for 22 May.
