With surprise and strong discomfort reacted on Tuesday the Government to the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice to order the suspension of the elections scheduled for this Sunday in the provinces of San Juan and Tucumán in the face of the claims of the political oppositions of those districts, for the alleged unconstitutionality of the candidacies for governor or vice of Sergio Uñac and Juan Manzur, both from Peronism.

As soon as the ruling of the highest court was announced, sources from the Casa Rosada admitted that the decision generated "surprise" because they did not expect a suspension just five days before the elections scheduled in both provinces.

While Interior Minister Eduardo "Wado" de Pedro analyzed the Court's precautionary measure to prepare a formal response from the Executive, spokesmen for Alberto Fernández's administration expressed their annoyance and discomfort over the judicial resolution that slows down the elections in San Juan and Tucumán. Some sources even harshly questioned the highest court and spoke of a "parapeted court."

On the edge of the electoral ban prior to the elections this Sunday, the Court resolved the proposals formulated by sectors of the opposition in San Juan and Tucumán against the candidacies for governor of Uñac and vice governor in the case of Manzur. These presentations denounced the alleged unconstitutionality of the candidacies because they understand that both leaders intend to remain or return to the provincial formula, despite the fact that they have already occupied it in more than three consecutive periods in their positions.
