The Medef authorities validated Tuesday without surprise the candidacies of Patrick Martin, Dominique Carlac'h and Pierre Brajeux for the presidency of Medef, announced the employers' organization in a statement. "The Statutory and Ethics Committee of the Mouvement des entreprises de France (Medef) met on Tuesday 9 May to examine the validity of the candidacies for the presidency of the Mouvement des entreprises de France (...) Three applications have been validated, "said the organization chaired since 2018 by Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux.
On Friday, three of the four declared presidential candidates announced that they had surpassed the 150 sponsorships required to run for president. Only the Ile-de-France entrepreneur Guillaume Cairou failed to gather these supports. Apart from sponsorships, the Medef statutes provide that presidential candidates must be active business leaders, under 65 years of age and French tax residents. So many criteria that Patrick Martin, current number 2 of the Medef, fulfills; Dominique Carlac'h, vice-president and spokesperson of the organization; and Pierre Brajeux, Deputy President of the French Security Federation.
The three candidates will be auditioned on May 30 before a final vote scheduled for July 6. The 1000 delegates composing the electoral assembly, represent 60% of the member professional organizations and 40% the territorial organizations of the Medef.
