The BRK-Kreisverband Starnberg has honored deserving and long-standing standby members. The five volunteers have around 400 members in the district.

District – The BRK district association Starnberg has dedicated an entire evening to the commitment of the volunteers who provide help in the district in the Starnberg, Gilching, Gauting, Seefeld and Herrsching standbys. A number of them have been honoured with awards, some of which are rare.

Nearly 400 helpers volunteered in the on-call services, the BRK said in a statement. Organized in specialist services, the medical service, for example, regularly secures events. In the case of large-scale operations, the specialist service "Care and Catering" takes care of all those affected and helpers. The specialist service "Information and Communication" supports the operational command in operations and larger medical services. The specialist service "Crisis Intervention" takes care of the psychological care of those affected and emergency services after traumatic experiences. And: The so-called "helpers on site" are professional volunteers who are sent by the integrated control center in emergencies to bridge the often important minutes until the arrival of the rescue service with qualified help. By the way, in the fire departments, this is called first responders.

In recognition of this "impressive commitment", 30 of the volunteers were invited to a celebration by the district emergency management. At the event at the Gasthof in der Au in Starnberg, they were honored for their many years of voluntary work and for their extraordinary commitment. District Administrator Stefan Frey was also present and addressed words of gratitude to the honorees. Albert Luppart, second deputy chairman of the BRK district association, was there.

Honorees active up to 60 years

For example, Johann Friedinger and Wilhelm Jocher (both BRK-Bereitschaft Starnberg) as well as Helmut Führer (BRK-Bereitschaft Seefeld) received the Badge of Honour of the German Red Cross in gold for 60 years of service.
