Nantes: surprise classical music concerts on Wednesday and Thursday trains

Highlights: Musicians will be present in trains and stations in the Pays de la Loire for two days, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Folle Journée en région. Eight concerts are planned on train lines terminating or starting at Nantes. 18 20-minute concerts will also be given by pianists in Le Mans, Angers and La Roche-sur-Yon train stations. Travelers will be able to hear Mozart, Bach, Offenbach, Mendelssohn or Chopin.

On Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 May, musicians will animate the stations and train lines of the Pays de la Loire. "The Region invites the Ligériens to extend the 20th anniversary of the Folle Journéeen région this time in the stations and TER with free classical music concerts organized in partnership with SNCF," said in a statement the regional council.

Eight concerts are planned on train lines terminating or starting at Nantes. They will be offered by the Ellipsos Saxophone Quartet, which had already played in the tramways of Nantes on February 1st. 18 20-minute concerts will also be given by pianists in Le Mans, Angers and La Roche-sur-Yon train stations. Travelers will be able to hear Mozart, Bach, Offenbach, Mendelssohn or Chopin.

La Folle Journée en région is the result of a partnership between the famous classical music festival La Folle Journée de Nantes, which brought together 120,000 spectators from 1 to 5 February, and the Region. Through this event, the musicians travel to dozens of municipalities in the Pays de la Loire around the same theme as the Nantes edition, namely Ode à la Nuit in 2023. This year, from 25 to 29 January, 60,000 people participated in the 20th anniversary of this regional declination.
