Spectacular trellis video: Fire brigade manager retires with secret "alarm" campaign

2023-05-10T13:56:41.378Z

Highlights: Au fire brigade has now bid farewell to the deserving district fire inspector Helmut Baur. He will be succeeded by the "preferred candidate" for section 5. For decades, the district fire chief had held out his bones for the disciples of St. Florian. The alarm "Fire of the brewery" turned out to be a false alarm, as the cloud of smoke above the brewhouse was a defect in one of the four steam regulators. The current membership includes 51 active members (four of whom are female), 15 young firefighters between the ages of twelve and 17.

Au/Hallertau – Recognition and thanks, but also a lot of melancholy, could be felt when the Au fire brigade recently gathered at the Rosenwirt for its annual general meeting. The reason: the farewell to Helmut Baur. For decades, the district fire chief had held out his bones for the disciples of St. Florian, first as an active member of the troops and subsequently as commander of the Auer Wehr, then as district fire chief in section 5/2 and finally until his retirement as district fire inspector for section 5 - responsible for the northern communities of Zolling, Attenkirchen, Nandlstadt, Rudelzhausen and Au. With his 65th birthday this Monday, the active service of the KBI ended. Shortly before, he was honored at the annual meeting – and his successor was presented.

Togetherness and a sense of belonging as trump cards

District Fire Councillor Manfred Danner, Au Commander Sebastian Biendl and Mayor Hans Sailer were full of praise for the "retirement", for whom not only skill and a sense of duty were important, but who had always relied on the trump cards of togetherness and a sense of belonging. The applause in the Rosenwirtsstube for Helmut Baur was correspondingly long-lasting.

In his very typical way, he emphasized the many companions who had shaped his path and influenced him for his actions. "The fire brigade has endured me long enough," Baur also flashed his humor – as well as at the presentation of his successor, the previous district youth warden Roman Bittrich: "The novel was my preferred candidate," said the outgoing "KBI" about the new appointment. The fact that Bittrich, who lives in Maueren and has East German roots, will certainly also be well received in the rest of the northern part of the district, Baur provided with a wink: "These are very tolerant people here, they do not discriminate against anyone because of their origins".

An extremely active fire brigade Au

Furthermore, the meeting of the Au fire brigade went smoothly. Chairman Martin Stanglmaier reported on activities ranging from summer parties and hall parties to Christmas parties with auctions, as well as participation in social life - such as the Day of Remembrance and the pilgrimages in Maria Hilf and Freising. Commander Sebastian Biendl, his deputy Sebastian Elfinger and secretary Sebastian Brendel gave an account of the effectiveness of the fire brigade, which in 2022 had to cope with nine traffic accidents, six apartment openings and one storm operation, as well as two oil spill clearances and helicopter landings. The alarm "Fire of the brewery" turned out to be a false alarm, as the cloud of smoke above the brewhouse turned out to be a defect in one of the four steam regulators.

Anita Stanglmaier reported an increase of 1500 euros in the development of the cash register. The current membership includes 51 active members (four of whom are female), 15 young firefighters between the ages of twelve and 17, ten comrades with dual membership, one honorary member and 35 passives. The new members are Lukas Lüttig, Jannis Koslowski, David Auerbach, Sebastian Seidel, Franziska Hofmaier, David Hess and Thomas Lang.

Video: Spectacular farewell with alleged alarm and special trellis

Last Saturday, his comrades from Section 5 gave the outgoing district fire inspector Helmut Baur a successful surprise: Before he celebrates his official farewell with the Florian disciples next weekend, they did not miss the opportunity to say goodbye to their "Helle" with all the weirs from his section. Something original had been come up for this: 26 vehicles and around 150 emergency personnel secretly gathered at the Auer Hopfenhalle and formed a vehicle and crew trellis. After the district fire inspector was ordered to the location by the Erding Integrated Control Centre shortly after 17 p.m., he was amazed when he saw the reason for the alarm.

With his emergency vehicle, Baur steered slowly through the trellis, past clapping people and loudly sounding St. Martin's horns. After welcoming those present, he was allowed to look over the market with the turntable ladder of the Mainburg fire brigade and then led the convoy of vehicles along the main road to the Auer fire station, where there was a hearty snack for all comrades at the end of the evening.
