Hohenpeißenberg – This year's prize competition of the active participants of the Lechgau took place at a very high level: A total of 148 individual participants and 22 groups competed for a day in Hohenpeißenberg under the strict eyes of the four judges. "I am pleased that so many young turners are active and show their skills every year," said district chairman Franz Multerer and was full of praise.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.

But he still found a drop of bitterness: "Where are the active people aged 30 and over? Especially in the age and honor class, there have always been quite a few participants registered." Nevertheless, the atmosphere was great in the House of Clubs in Hohenpeißenberg. This was also due to the great organization of the traditional costume association "Bayerischer Rigi" Hohenpeißenberg, which spontaneously agreed to host this year's prize plates.

Normally, this is done by the club that had the Gaufest last year. But last year, as you know, there was no Gaufest. "I am therefore very grateful to you for simply taking over this in such an uncomplicated way," Multerer praised the hosts. Because there is already a lot of work in such an event.

With dream notes

The highlight was, of course, the final award ceremony: The winners of the respective age groups were chosen with true dream marks and to the great cheers of the athletes and the spectators throughout the hall (see box). But also the placements of the other participants were loudly applauded due to the great performances shown. Just a good vibe.

The nerves were tense to the breaking point when the group results were announced, because they are the only ones to be read out in reverse order. And so, at the end, two pairs of traditional costumes of the respective groups were on stage again - the same as last year: "Almfrieden Steingaden I" and the "Schloßbergler Schongau I". With a score of 16/6, the defending champions from Schongau relegated their friends from Steingaden (29/14) to second place for the second time. With a third victory, they are likely to keep the challenge cup. That will be exciting at the next Preisplatteln, then in Epfach.
