Miguel Almirón is one of the figures of Newcastle United. The Paraguayan footballer is enjoying a great presence in the English team that, with 65 points, is third in the Premier League. The good campaign of the Magpies means that, for the moment, they are in the Champions League zone. This is more than positive for the institution, since it has not played international tournaments for many years.
Almirón is remembered in Argentine football for his great time in Lanús, where he won the local tournament in 2016 and runner-up of the Copa Libertadores in 2017. However, there is another Argentine club in which the Paraguayan always wanted to play, but still not given: River Plate.
In an interview with ESPN, Almirón confessed his sympathy for Núñez's club: "When I was in Lanús, I always had the illusion of playing in River."
Regarding how his affection for the Millionaire came about, he recalled: "When I was a kid I watched the games with my dad and my uncle. Part of my dad's family is from Argentina, and since they're from River, I started watching games with them until I became a fan."
In turn, the Paraguayan said that, over the years, that feeling was changing: "When I was 15 years old I got a tattoo because I was very fanatical. Every weekend I would sit and watch the games with my dad and uncle. Today, I'm more sympathetic. I sit down and watch the games when I can."
Almiron celebrates Newcastle's goal by sporting his River tattoo.
Almirón's tattoo dedicated to River was only known last year. It was during a match against Crystal Palace for the English league, he scored a goal and to celebrate he took off his shirt, so you could see the shield of the Millionaire on his left shoulder blade.
