The State Prosecutor's Office today (Thursday) filed an indictment in the Beer Sheva District Court against Yana Blum (24) from Rishon LeZion for reckless manslaughter, drunk driving and more. This was after during Independence Day, while driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, she caused a car accident in which a 10-month-old baby was killed.

The indictment, filed by attorney Idan Ivgi, indicates that during Independence Day, Blum worked at a nature party held in southern Israel. Before leaving for the party, Bloom consumed a cannabis drug and later drove her car to the party, picking up two other employees. This is despite the fact that her vehicle license expired in 2022 and she did not have valid insurance.

Near midnight, the three arrived at the scene and Bloom began her work, during which she drank several alcoholic beverages. In the morning, after the end of her shift, Blum went to the bar with another employee and asked for two glasses of alcohol that contained, among other things, Arak, and in addition to this drink, the two drank "Zeiser" Arak with the bartenders.

At noon that day, Bloom left the party and, being drunk and under the influence of cannabis, began driving from south to north. At some point during the ride, the defendant began reckless driving, including overtaking a vehicle in a manner that forced it to veer off the road and more. In one case, after overtaking a vehicle, it veered from its lane of travel into the opposite lane of travel and continued driving within that lane. While driving in the opposite lane, approximately 6 vehicles, traveling from north to south, had to descend to the right shoulder to avoid a head-on collision with her vehicle.

At one point, coming from north to south, a vehicle with a couple of parents and their four small children. The driver, who noticed Bloom's car driving in front of him in the opposite lane, tried to swerve into the right shoulder to avoid colliding with him, but despite this, Bloom, who continued driving, hit his vehicle with great force with the front of her vehicle. As a result of the accident, a 10-month-old baby was killed. In addition, the parents and their three surviving young children sustained severe injuries and were evacuated to a trauma room at Soroka Hospital. Bloom was also bruised and fractured her hands.

In the motion to arrest and revoke the license until the end of the proceedings, which was filed at the same time, Adv. Ivgi stated: "The danger of the respondent stems from her actions, when, despite being drunk due to the consumption of alcohol and drugs, she drove her car on a Ben Ironi road, drove passengers to the party, and after leaving the party, drove her car wildly, overtook many vehicles dangerously, drove against the direction of traffic while pushing vehicles to the sidelines, until she caused a serious head-on accident between her car and the car in which the family was traveling on a holiday, This caused the death of a 10-month-old toddler as well as severe injuries to his family. The respondent's dangerousness also increases in light of her admission that she habitually uses a dangerous cannabis-type drug."

Bloom was charged with reckless manslaughter, aggravated battery, drunk driving, driving without a valid vehicle license and driving without a valid insurance policy.

The case was investigated by the Negev Region Examiners Unit of the Israel Police.
