This is Juguetes Perdidos, a cult brewery in the town of Tres de Febrero, which for the first time gets a gold medal for Argentina in the last edition of the World Beer Cup that took place in Nashville, Tennessee (United States).
In total, 10,213 samples from 2,376 breweries representing 51 countries participated. 101 categories were awarded – in some of them the precious gold medal was vacant. Argentina won the Wild Ale category with Ábrette Sésamo.
Our country also received a bronze medal for Javelina beer from the Buenos Aires town of Villa Martelli. The countries that won the most medals were the United States (267), Canada (14), Germany (5), Japan (5), the Netherlands (4) and Argentina, Belgium and the United Kingdom with two medals each.

"It is a spontaneously fermented beer (that is, without adding yeasts) that is aged for 20 months in barrels. After this long process, where the beer gains acidity due to the action of bacteria and wild yeasts, it is bottled and twisted to slowly referment for 1 year in bottles," Ricardo Aftyka, brewmaster of Juguetes perdidos, explains to Clarín.
According to its creator, this type of beer originates from Lambeek (Lambic) in the surroundings of Brussels (Belgium) where the most traditional producers are. He also comments that it has the acidity and profile of a dry sparkling wine.

"Due to the long process of almost two years in barrels plus the bottle year, the beer takes 3 years to reach the sale," says Aftyka. That's why the 2019 Abrette Sesame series went on sale in 2022 and the 2020 series and went on sale recently. They are currently bottling the 2021 one that will go on sale in 2024. All have the year printed on the cork.
