LEFIGARO. - How long have you been interested in music and song?
Alicia MAHÉ. - I discovered that I liked it at the age of 7, I wanted to play the piano, my parents had enrolled me in the Conservatory and I had been able to practice singing in the Gospel style. From the first class, I became passionate about singing, I felt an indescribable pleasure and my friends thought I was doing well. Outside of class, I sang secretly at home without anyone knowing. After recovering from my serious car accident, I realized that I was missing out on a passion that makes me feel good.

What did you do?
I took singing lessons via a development workshop on the sidelines of my work. From then on, my parents were able to see me sing in public for the first time at small concerts. They were moved and proud of me. But I was still relatively modest, out of shyness, and opportunities to sing became scarce after the lockdown. Until one day a producer heard me singing on short videos posted on my social networks. I had never considered an artistic career for lack of self-confidence. I like to sing but I don't find myself any particular talent.

And this meeting leads today to the release of this first single entitled À vie...
I worked on my self-confidence, I took vocal technique classes and I progressed. I worked a lot for this first song where I talk about a very personal and touching moment in my story. Hakim, who works in the production of "Married at First Sight" and who collaborates with the same music producer, volunteered to write this song. He knows me perfectly well, he followed my marriage with Bruno. I recorded À vie in Toulouse and I'm proud that this single comes out. My parents are going to be particularly affected because I'm talking about a person who is no longer here. But everyone will be able to feel concerned by the lyrics. The next steps are the shooting of a music video and the participation in September in a festival in Toulouse in front of 3000 people alongside artists like Rizha and Bilal Hassani. I've signed on to three singles so in six months there will definitely be another song coming out, more joyful this time.

"We will meet again in June with Bruno"

Alicia Mahé

In 2022, we discovered the story of your marriage with Bruno in "Married at First Sight", what has happened since the end of filming?
I quit my job as a nurse and moved away from my friends and family in Aix-en-Provence to settle with Bruno in Mougins, near Cannes. We continued our daily life together with many projects. Bruno decided to take a six-month break from work by taking a sabbatical so we could take time to settle down and spend time together. He also wanted to move forward in a personal project with his sister in the field of decoration.

Did you hesitate to take part in the filming of "Married at First Sight, Life After"?
No, we thought it was going to be an opportunity to remember all our good times and give news to viewers who do not follow us on our social networks. We immediately agreed to work again with the "Married at First Sight" teams. It took us a while but we enjoyed doing it.

On Wednesday, you posted a message on Instagram announcing that you were taking a break with Bruno...
At the moment, we have small differences and we decided to distance ourselves for a few days to think separately. We need to understand each other what we really want. So I left Mougins to return to Aix-en-Provence. It's not an easy situation, there's still a lot of love between us and we don't want to hurt each other. Nevertheless, Bruno remains a great support for me for the release of my first single. He encouraged me to do it and gave me confidence. We will meet again in June for a long-planned trip to Bali.

Do you have other projects?
I am writing a book about my personal story, a testimony. A publishing house contacted me to offer me to work with me with the aim of releasing this book before the end of the year.

You have recently been hospitalized, how are you doing now?
I have a concern about insulin production due to carbohydrate intolerance and this explains my weight gain in recent months. I have always been thin, and overnight I had to accept my forms. It has not been easy. I have to adapt my diet accordingly. These difficulties have occurred after all the pancreatitis I have had, and if I am not careful, it could lead to diabetes. I continue to undergo various medical examinations to determine precisely the origin of the problem and treat it.
