Fürstenfeldbruck – In the future, the area around the Aumühle and on the Lände will be better connected by bridges and will also be better connected to major roads such as Schöngeisinger Straße. This is envisaged, among other things, in the framework plan for the future so-called Aumühle Creative Quarter. A new bridge for pedestrians – possibly also for cyclists – is to be built at Schöngeisinger Straße 47 – and quite soon.

Notarial contract

According to the municipality, there is a notary contract dated October 2005 with the owner of the property in question. The paper seals the right for the city of Fürstenfeldbruck to build a footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists from the private property over the Amper, to the current site of the municipal building yard. However, the right expires after 20 years, in October 2025, which is why there is now a need for haste.

According to the initial plans, pedestrians opposite the AEZ on Schöngeisinger Straße will enter the backyard of the residential building through an existing passageway. Among other things, parking spaces for residents are currently designated there, explained Michael Niederwald from the planning office.

The expert presented initial plans for the future bridge at the most recent meeting of the Transport Committee and at the same time explained which hurdles need to be considered.

"The bridge may only be anchored to a width of two meters on the property," said Niederwald. There is no more space. This is stipulated in the notarial contract from 2005.

Water law requirements

Further water law requirements would have to be observed. For example, in a discussion with the Munich Water Management Authority, it was determined that the freeboard to be maintained – the area between the flood level and the lower edge of the bridge – must be one metre. In the event of a flood, this is intended to ensure that flotsam can still swim under the bridge and does not get stuck. "However, this freeboard is giving us a hard time," said Niederwald. This is because the bridge has to be set higher. "Stairs will probably be required."

Planners, city administration and city councillors actually wanted to prevent this as much as possible. "Accessibility is an important issue," said Alexa Zierl (ÖDP) in the committee. Thomas Brückner (Greens) remarked: "I had imagined it differently as a cyclist."

No ramp

Engineer Niederwald assured the committee that the planning of a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists will be pursued. Nevertheless, it is difficult. There is not enough space for a ramp to the bridge. "If we make it barrier-free, we would have to go into the inner courtyard with a ramp length of more than 20 meters," Niederwald said. And it is the property of the property owner.

"Would it be possible to buy land from the owner?" asked Alexa Zierl. This could be used to enforce the goal of "accessibility" in the construction of the bridge and possibly receive funding, says Zierl. In the end, the city would not have to pay 450 percent of the estimated 000,100 euros for the new bridge out of its own pocket.

Niederwald replied that talks with the owner were imminent. The option of acquiring land will now also be addressed.
