Kassel – The weather could be tough as early as April: Measured against the new climate average for the years 1990 to 2020, April could be one to two degrees warmer. Weather expert Dominik Jung of Wetter.net looks ahead to the coming months in a summer forecast, citing the NOAA model, the U.S. national weather service for climate forecasts.
This trend continued in May, and then also in summer. "And not a big surprise in June either," says Jung. "How could it be otherwise? Here, too, a deviation of one to two degrees is calculated. So on top of an already warm period, something is added to it." A similar picture emerges in July.

According to the forecast, only in August could there be only 0.5 degrees more than the climate average of the past 30 years in southern Germany, but in northern Germany there could be one to two degrees more on the thermometer. However, this still means that the temperatures are above the temperatures we are used to from the average of the past 30 years. "These are all just climate trends, no one should plan their vacation accordingly," says Jung.
However, BR24 weather expert Michael Sachweh is certain that long-term forecasts are getting better and better, even if they are "still in their infancy".

The hot summer forecasts are reminiscent of the summer of 2022, which already felt extremely hot. Concentration problems, circulatory problems, severe health problems for older or weaker people are the result.
At the end of March, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change presented a new final report. The key messages: Climate change is progressing faster than expected and the climate protection measures taken so far are far from sufficient to limit warming to 1.5 or at least less than 2 degrees above pre-industrial levels.
