Wiesbaden – Helene Fischer (38) is currently touring Germany, Austria and Switzerland with her big "Rausch" tour to inspire Schlager fans. Their background singers are usually in the background. One or the other has even been in the spotlight themselves: Helene Fischer's background singer Laura Kästel (30) even took part in the ESC three years ago.

This year in the ESC preliminaries, the fans decided against Ikke hip gold and for Lord of the Lost to represent Germany. In 2019, on the other hand, the band S!sters took over this task with the song of the same name. The duo consisted of Carlotta Truman and Laura Kästel. At the ESC in Israel, however, the two only landed in penultimate place and disbanded the band shortly afterwards. Nevertheless, Laura remained true to the music.

Despite the ESC defeat with S!sters, Laura Kästel is now on Germany's biggest stages – but behind Helene Fischer. But the Wiesbaden native is not only the background singer of the Schlagerqueen. In addition, Laura Kästel, also known under the stage name Laurita Spinelli, has already supported artists such as Sarah Connor (42) and Lena Meyer-Landrut (31) at her concerts.

The Helene Fischer phenomenon in numbers

With more than sixteen million records sold, Helene Fischer is the most commercially successful singer in Germany, making her one of the world's highest-earning musicians. Her albums "Farbenspiel" and "Best of Helene Fischer" are among the best-selling music albums in the country. So it's no surprise that the music awards are thrown at her: Helene Fischer has an incredible seventeen Echos, eight Golden Hens, three Bambis and two Golden Cameras. In 2015 she received the Bavarian Television Award for "The Helene Fischer Show". Helene Fischer's only concert in Germany in 2022 took place on August 20, 2022 in front of a record crowd of 130,000 fans in Munich – the biggest concert of her career. The first 100,000 tickets were sold in 24 hours.

Not only Helene Fischer – Sarah Connor also relies on ESC participant in the background

In addition to former S!sters member Laura Kästel, Sarah Connor also had another ESC loser in her ranks. Ann Sophie (32), who in 2015 stepped in for Andreas Kümmert with her song "Black Smoke" and ended up in last place, is one of her background singers. The musicians got to know each other as part of "The Voice of Germany". Ann Sophie took part in the casting show in 2021, while Sarah Connor sat on the jury.

Even though their background singers have already experienced a lot, the focus is still on the mega-stars themselves. No one can steal the show from them anytime soon. Helene Fischer has even just broken her own record. Sources used: Schlagerprofis.de
