London – The coronation of King Charles III (74) and Queen Consort Camilla (75) on May 6 at Westminster Abbey was a complete success. The official portraits have also been published by Buckingham Palace. What hardly anyone paid attention to in the tumult of the coronation is now revealed. With an incredible amount of attention to detail, the designer dresses of the Royal Family, for example, were made. But when you take a closer look at Queen Camilla's robe, a few question marks also arise. What do the two gold-embroidered terriers on the hem of their skirts mean?
Camilla's great homage of an animal lover to her four-legged friends
Before the king's childhood sweetheart got the spectacular Queen Mary's crown on her head, Camilla took her train of the long gown of couture designer Bruce Oldfield (72) to the side to take a seat on the throne. The stunning dress, which had been specially made for the former Duchess of Cornwall, went apart at the front, revealing a previously hidden detail: her two Jack Russell Terriers Bluebell and Beth were embroidered onto the dress with gold threads.
But not only the two dogs can be seen. In addition to the centrally placed initials RC (lat. Regina Camilla, engl. Queen Camilla), other patterns can be seen, including a variety of flowers. So while the dogs are an unsubtle nod to Camila's beloved pets, the floral embroidery is meant to be a tribute to her husband King Charles, according to the Mirror, as they both wanted to show off their shared love of the outdoors.
If you look very closely, you will see that names were also embroidered between the silver flower tendrils. They are those of the Queen's children and grandchildren: Tom (48) and Laura (45), her son and daughter, as well as Gus (13), Freddy (13), Louis (13), Eliza (15) and Lola (15), her five grandchildren.
Camilla has given up horseback riding as a hobby
For Queen Camilla, it was more than just a hobby: riding was part of her life. During her state visit with King Charles III, Camilla explained why she will never get back in the saddle. "I used to have horses that I rode, but unfortunately I don't ride anymore," Camilla said during her visit to Hamburg: "I think I'm too old, but I have racehorses." The decision to stop riding was not an easy one for her.

The Duchess of Cornwall has always been a true animal lover, especially horses and dogs have taken a liking to the wife of King Charles III. The patronage of the animal rescue organization, which has been in existence since 1860, is therefore a matter close to the heart for the mother of two, for which she has been committed for over ten years. She had her passion "written" on her dress.
Like the late Queen (96, † 2022), who used the abbreviation "ER" for "Elizabeth R." (R. stands for the Latin word for queen "regina"), Charles III continues the tradition. For centuries, until Henry I in the early 12th century, English monarchs have signed with the initial R – as a sign of their authority. Charles' use of his lettering suggests an endorsement for the remainder of his reign. As Charles said, he and Camilla wanted to dedicate "our lives now" to royal service.
