London – From the point of view of five-year-old Prince Louis, the coronation of his grandfather King Charles III (74) was first and foremost an endless silence and sitting. But then came day three when a scout group visited Slough, where Prince William's (40) family had gathered for the Big Help Out initiative to volunteer for the community. It was also the moment when the youngest offspring of the Prince and Princess of Wales was at their best.

Excavation, bow and arrow shooting, hammering, sawing, wheelbarrows – things couldn't have gone better for Louis. When there were also grilled marshmallows for dinner, which were handed to him by Mama Kate's delicate hand, the second son was clearly the happiest of the three miniroyals. After all, it's not too often that Kate and William also roll up their shirt sleeves and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty.

So while Mama Kate was roasting soft marshmallows on a stick over the flame of a campfire, a camera captured what the Princess of Wales called her youngest by his idiosyncratic nickname: "Put that in the fire, Lou Bug," the mother of three was heard saying. Anyone who thought he had misheard was taught better while driving a wheelbarrow: "Well done, good job, Lou Bug!" the proud mother was clearly heard in another clip of the day.

Prince Louis conquers hearts and "did a good job"

"Louis was very enthusiastic and did a good job," said Anne Edwards, a senior Girl Scout assistant who painted cinder blocks with Charlotte, 8, and Louis to carry wooden planters.

"He was determined to do it all on his own, and he managed to put the whole brush in, flick it up, and cover some of us with paint!" Edwards tells people. "He did a good job!"

Prince Louis was nicknamed the "little bug" by his royal mother

Lou is the common abbreviation for Louis, Bug translates as insect, but should be meant in the sense of "little creepy-crawly" or "beetle". Royal fans immediately took to social media to gush about the Princess of Wales' cute nickname for Prince Louis. "Lou Bug is so cute," someone cheers. "I can't get over Lou bug," raves from another comment. A third person writes: "Lou bug! Oh God, that's adorable!"

Prince William reportedly called Princess Charlotte "Mignonette" — the French word for "small and delicate" — while Kate previously called Charlotte "Lottie."
