Freising – "Freising electrifies: drive – charge – share": The "Walk & Talk" of the Agenda21 group Energy and Climate and the Domberg Academy under this motto attracted only a small, but a highly interested audience, as city spokeswoman Christl Steinhart reports. As Marita Hanold, one of the spokespersons of the Agenda Group, explained during the tour and summarized in retrospect, this "Walk & Talk" takes up important facets of the mobility of the future with two central aspects: "Where can we fill up with electricity, the fuel of the future, in Freising and how can we protect the environment and our future through meaningful sharing?"

At the first station, Dominik Fuchs, Mobility Officer of the City of Freising, presented the city's cargo bike rental system, which was developed as part of the funding project "Rent a cargo bike. Relieving the burden on municipalities" was funded by the Free State of Bavaria. Since August last year, the population of Freising has had access to a low-threshold, attractive and inexpensive service at a total of eight stations in the city area in order to be able to dispense with their own car when transporting heavy loads. The electrically powered cargo bikes could be easily booked using an app. "Overall, we are very satisfied with the booking figures and are pleased with the positive feedback from the population about our sharing system," Fuchs explained to the participants.

Share your own wallbox with others

Participation in the private charging infrastructure was the focus of the second station, Marita Hanold continues – a topic that inspired two participants from the neighbourhood who do not have their own charging station for their e-car and for whom long distances to public charging stations are arduous.

Rainer Linder from "Charge@Friends" vividly demonstrated on site how you can share your own wallbox with others through simple activation via app, clear and transparent billing according to consumption, no hidden costs, no monthly fees and the possibility to cancel at any time. "Charge@Friends" at Körnerstraße 9 in Neustift is the first charging station of its kind in Freising and offers electricity at fair prices. Charging is possible from 6 a.m. to 21 p.m., at 37 cents/kWh usually even cheaper than at home. Further information is available online at charge@friends.com.

There are currently 26 charging points and twelve charging sockets in Freising's multi-storey car parks

Rainer Teschner explained why he was able to offer his electricity at such a low price: "With intelligent charging control, our electricity comes from the roof into the car – the sun doesn't send us a bill."

At the charging station in the parking lot at the district office, Simon Prechsl from Freisinger Stadtwerke informed that there are currently 26 charging points for e-cars, each with 22 kW charging power and twelve charging sockets in the multi-storey car parks in Freising. All locations are published on the homepage. The charging process can be carried out with 90 different charging cards or alternatively via the "Charge it easy" app. In the current year 2023, eight more charging points will be built and in 2024 the parking garages Untere Altstadt and Altstadt are to be equipped with wallboxes.

The afternoon ended with Sonja Ziesak, Chairwoman of StadtTeilAuto Freising. With a car fleet of 19 cars in the district (14 of them in Freising) ranging from small cars to limousines to vans and a 9-seater bus, the car sharing association has been well positioned since 1992. "Our 300 members make a significant contribution to relieving cities of traffic and reducing the amount of space used for parking spaces," Ziesak emphasized.
