His "extremely interesting task" as head of the Employment Agency gave Schankweiler "a lot of pleasure" until the end. Nevertheless, he decided to end his active professional life after 46 years. Looking back, he was "very grateful" to be able to look back on many wonderful years – in different departments and functions – at the Employment Agency. "It really made sense and fun to help people find a good start in the world of work through our tasks," says Schankweiler. Likewise, it has always been a great concern of his "to secure employment even in difficult times and to provide advice to our employers".
