Deep mourning for BLSV district chief: "Flo" Warmuth has lost the fight against cancer

2023-05-13T12:06:15.544Z

Highlights: Florian Warmuth, BLSV district chief in Freising, died at the age of 49. He was always a footballer and a coach at SG Eichenfeld Freising. The well-being of the clubs was very important to him, says Dietmar Buchta. Florian was simply magnificent, "an always level-headed and balancing character with a sympathetic composure," says Erich Irlstorfer, MP for Freising-Langenbach. He also thought of us, his comrades-in-arms in the B LSV, says Margit Conrad.

It is not only the athletes in the district of Freising who say goodbye to a special person: Florian Warmuth. The BLSV district chief died at the age of 49.

Freising - I look in disbelief at the paper in the BLSV folder documenting the past election. It is Florian Warmuth's signed confirmation for the district council in November 2022 that he will make himself available again as BLSV chairman - and will also accept this post if elected. Florian Warmuth, at that time already marked by his serious illness, but optimistic about the future, was no longer present in the new elections. Cancer has defeated him: on May 8, his heart stopped beating forever. Florian Warmuth, whom everyone called "Flo", was only 49 years old.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Born on January 30, 1974 as the son of Christa and Karl Warmuth, he was – unlike his parents – never enthusiastic about handball. Florian was more drawn to tennis, which his parents had lived for many years at SV Langenbach, but actually he was always a footballer. And the home of the declared FC Bayern fan has been SG Eichenfeld Freising for years. There he was not only a coach of the youngest, but also incredibly active as a youth leader.

"But Florian was much more than that," emphasizes Dietmar Buchta, chairman of SG Eichenfeld. "What he has initiated, whether for Christmas parties, summer parties, jerseys for the little ones and much more!" He was simply one of a kind, says Buchta about Florian Warmuth. Without him, there would be no more youth football players at the SBU. And his long-time companions and comrades-in-arms, such as Christian Scholtys, Gerhard Wimmer, Christian van Amsterdam or Enrico Nagy, will underline this 100 percent.

He showed an honest interest in the everyday life of "his" clubs in the BLSV

And the team of the BLSV district association can also confirm this without reservation. The "Flo", as he liked to call himself, was always a rock in the surf for us, and he unselfishly took many appointments from us, whether they were anniversaries, club celebrations or new elections. This was not because he liked to present himself, but rather because it was his honest interest in how things are going in the clubs of his BLSV sports circle.

Florian Warmuth, who lived in Freising with five children and his partner Bernadette, was also a family man, and when no one was found for the treasurer post at the 2017 district council, he persuaded Bernadette and later son Korbinian to support him. The BOS vocational baccalaureate was followed by an apprenticeship as a hotel clerk at Ramada Freising.

New challenges: In 2017, he joined the team of MP Erich Irlstorfer

He then held positions in various companies in the Freising area until he joined the team of MP Erich Irlstorfer in 2017 and mastered many new challenges as head of the constituency office. In this function, he also thought of us, his comrades-in-arms in the BLSV, and so we were invited to the Green Week in Berlin in 2018 (via the CSU district association). Florian was simply magnificent, "an always level-headed and balancing character with a sympathetic composure," Erich Irlstorfer aptly describes it. We are grateful that we were able to work with him for the cause of "sport" in the district.
Margit Conrad was editor of the Freisinger Tagblatt and acts as deputy district chairwoman of the BLSV district association Freising.
