An evangelical pastor was sentenced to 59 years in prison for sexually abusing three minors and an adult woman in a Casa Hogar in 2020, the Prosecutor's Office of the Mexican state of Nuevo León reported Friday.
The 51-year-old man, identified only as Jacob, was found guilty of charges of sexual abuse, comparable to rape (because they are minors), after assaulting four minors at a Casa Hogar in Monterrey, where he taught classes and guided physical activities, reported the EFE news agency.
Hired in August 2020, the religious resigned two months later from his position. He fled to another state, but was arrested in 2021 in Ecatepecde Morelos, where he was originally from, for disturbing public order, and it was discovered that he was wanted for other crimes and later transferred to Nuevo León to be tried.

The victims said the man "performed sexual acts against them" during the time he worked there, and the judge found there was evidence "to establish his criminal responsibility." In addition to the sentence of almost 60 years in prison, "he must also repair the damage and pay a fine" of 93,366 Mexican pesos (about $ 5,305), the state prosecutor's office said on the social network Twitter.
