Lüßwiesen industrial estate: containers for up to 40 refugees

The municipality of Neuching has found a location for a container facility for refugees in the industrial park. However, it will still take some time before the first people can move in. The planning takes about 15 months.

Neuching – In addition to information and figures on the development of the municipality (report follows), Neuching's mayor Thomas Bartl let the cat out of the bag at the citizens' meeting in the Niederneuching fire station: "You should find out from me first: After a meticulous search, we have now found a location for a refugee shelter in the municipality." An area in the Lüßwiesen industrial estate proved to be suitable, where up to 40 refugees are to be accommodated in a container facility.

The pressure on his community has continued to increase in the past due to the high numbers, and one thing must not happen under any circumstances: "Our new sports hall must not serve as refugee accommodation," Bartl clarified.

The containers are to be set up in a current parking lot in the industrial park, and thus Neuching is also fulfilling the solidarity contribution towards the neighboring municipalities. "After all, we are the last village in the district of Erding where there was no accommodation." The planned area has the necessary infrastructure such as electricity or water connections: "In addition, there is the best connection to public transport in the entire municipality," Bartl added.

He did not miss a few personal words regarding the refugee problem: "The current development is a farce for me, the government is doing almost nothing to support the municipalities." According to Bartl, the recently approved one billion euros is "another slap in the face". No representative of the municipalities was invited to the refugee summit: "And we have to pay for it now."

In the opinion of the CSU mayor of Neuching, the continued uncontrolled immigration will plunge Germany into chaos: "I appeal for a stop to admissions and the immediate deportation of criminally conspicuous refugees."

Deputy District Administrator Franz Hofstetter (CSU) agreed with Bartl that the decisions of the federal government were unsatisfactory. Currently, there are around 2600 refugees in the district of Erding: "Nobody can do anything about the constantly arriving buses." The fact that gyms serve as accommodation again should not be: "I was against it even then, because physical education is immensely important," said Hofstetter. He sees it as "outrageous" that no more refugees are allowed into the Erding air base: "District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer and Erding's Lord Mayor Max Götz are trying everything, but it is federal property." 40 refugees would not be a small number for Neuching, Hofstetter continued: "I would like to thank them for that."

A citizen wanted to know when they would move into the containers in the Lüßwiesen industrial estate. Bartl rolled his eyes at his answer: "The planning phase takes about 15 months. This shows the insane bureaucracy in Germany."
