Highlights: The administrative court of Paris has overturned a ban on demonstrations by the far-right. The ban was imposed by the prefect of police after the death of a militant of the extreme right last Saturday. The prefect had warned of the risk of disturbances to public order if the demonstrations went ahead. The demonstration was to mark the 29th anniversary of S.E. Deyz's death, which took place on May 9. The far- right group Action française was also banned from holding a rally this weekend.

Initially banned by the police headquarters, this gathering was finally authorized by the administrative court.

After several hours of deliberations, the administrative court of Paris overturned the ban on demonstrations pronounced Friday by the prefecture of police against the Action française, an organization classified as far right. The association had seized the court by a summary liberty in order to "suspend the order of the prefect of police of May 12, 2023 prohibiting the holding of the conference 'The France in danger' organized on May 13, 2023 by the Action Française". This Saturday, the administrative court granted his request, learned Le Figaro from the instance.

Four other actions planned by the ultra-right this weekend were also banned by the police headquarters: a demonstration organized by the royalist movement Action française, a march of the military association Place d'armes, a rally declared by the movement The nationalists, which was to take place this Sunday in tribute to Joan of Arc at the same time as the demonstration of the Action française, and finally a static gathering of the association Penser la France.

The prefect of police, Laurent Nunez, argued the risk of disturbances to public order while several of these demonstrations have prompted calls for counter-rallies by organizations "close to the radical left" and that a mobilization of the "antifascist movement" could "try to attack physically" to ultra-right activists. This measure is also the translation of the instruction given to the prefects by the Minister of the Interior to prohibit any demonstration "of the ultra-right or the extreme right", after the controversy of last Saturday related to the demonstration of the Committee of May 9 to commemorate the 29th anniversary of the death of a militant of the extreme right, Sébastien Deyzieu.
