Excursions cut holes in the budget of the VdK local association Wartenberg. The association criticizes the reduction of senior catering at the Wartenberg folk festival.
Wartenberg – The adjoining room in Café Härtl was almost too small for the general meeting of the local association Wartenberg/Fraunberg of the social association VdK. Chairman Michael Gruber was very pleased with the great interest, which fits only too well with the recent success of the association. He reported that the number of members had risen to 412.
Since November, the VdK has been accompanying the senior citizens' flat. "There are a lot of people from Wartenberg," he said of the interested parties who had come forward. It was right to say: "We're pushing it forward." He has already given twelve guided tours. "There's always interest."
Since the easing of Corona, there have also been gatherings again. The topic of senior dance is also being continued, and there is also interest from other organisations. "We can't do it all by ourselves," Gruber pointed out.
The fund closed with a four-digit deficit, due to a senior excursion. According to Gruber, this financial result has already led to debates at the district level. However, he maintains that it is right "that the many who have to look at the money can also continue for a day." Second chairwoman Andrea indicated that these trips would only be made if there was enough money in the coffers. The next trip is to Augsburg to the botanical garden on June 9th.
The fact that the Wartenberg market is cutting the catering for seniors at the folk festival (we reported) did not go uncommented. After a unanimous decision in the meeting, Mayor Christian Pröbst still receives mail on the matter. Gruber announced that he would work with the Executive Board to find an appropriate wording.
