Also in the next few days it will be mainly wet and cold in Bavaria. The weather frustration is therefore likely to slowly reach unimagined heights for some people.
Update from May 12, 12:20 p.m.: The flood news service for Bavaria from the State Office for the Environment warns of flooding in various regions of the Free State. Reporting level two applies to the districts of Landshut, Kelheim and Munich, "overflows and floods" are possible here. For Passau, Straubing-Bogen and Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, warning level one applies: "Advance warning of flood risk".

In addition, higher levels of the rivers have been reported in several places in Lower Bavaria. The BR reports that the water in the Danube, the Isar and the Vils has risen due to the persistent rain. Photos also show that the water has overflowed its banks in Passau. But there is also an all-clear: In the course of the day, the water levels are expected to drop slightly again.
Friday: Short rain break in Munich – more thunderstorms and wetness in the rest of Bavaria
Update from May 12, 9:20 a.m.: The expected rain break on Friday seems to be only partial. The DWD writes about the weather in the course of today: "Today many clouds until noon, especially north of the Danube, intermittent rain, later also in the south in some areas, low risk of thunderstorms". This means that it is likely to be a little drier around Munich today, but the more northern regions around Nuremberg can be prepared for recurring rain. The temperatures in the entire Free State remain cautiously "cool" today, more than 15 degrees at the peak are not possible.
In addition, the DWD cautiously warns of isolated thunderstorms that can occur from "afternoon and evening in the Alps and northern low mountain ranges" – including "small-scale heavy rain up to 20 liters per square meter in a short time".

"The Ice Saints are going into overtime," explains meteorologist Dominik Jung of wetternet on YouTube when looking ahead to the end of next week around May 18. The Ice Saints, the last possible frosty nights according to regional farmers' rules, will end on Monday, May 15. According to current weather forecasts, the people of Bavaria will continue to experience the bad weather beyond that.

After the persistent rain of the last few days, at least the coming weekend will attract with slightly improved weather. For the time being, however, rain will remain predominant, especially in the southern half of the Free State. According to the German Weather Service (DWD) in the state capital Munich until Thursday evening, May 11, in the other southern regions until the early hours of Friday, May 12. In the northern half of Bavaria around Nuremberg, it should stop raining during the day.
On Saturday, May 13th, it should stay dry again in the whole of Bavaria, at about 13 to 16 degrees. According to wetternet's forecast, things will get a little better in the current YouTube video on Sunday, May 14 – here expert Jung expects some sun with cloudy skies and around 17 degrees.

Lots of snow in the mountains: Weather in Bavaria remains cold and rainy in May
Even if you can look forward to a few rain-free days in the near future, the weather trend in May remains clearly rainy. In the Alps, as the live cams on the Zugspitze show, among other things, there is even a dense layer of snow - sometimes far below the mountain peak. According to wetternet, it is expected to rain again on Monday, May 15, after the largely dry weekend.

Even a look at the ensemble forecast, i.e. the summary of various weather calculations, for southern Germany until the end of May does not promise a warm spring arrival. By the end of the month, temperatures will climb to just under 20 degrees on average, and "there is really a flood of rain announced," explains Jung. "Precipitation every day, and not too scarcely," says the weather expert.
