The finale of the current "Bachelor" season ran at the same time as a new episode of "Aktenzeichen XY". One of the two formats was able to clearly win the odds.
Mainz/Cologne – Normally, it is likely to be the first and last episode of the season that achieves the best ratings for a TV format. For the finale of the dome show "The Bachelor", RTL had to go against a real audience favorite on Wednesday evening (May 10) with "File number XY unsolved". Which of the two shows was able to attract the largest audience in front of the flicker boxes in the end has now been decided.

At 20:15 p.m., "File Number XY" and "The Bachelor" undoubtedly featured two completely different target groups in front of the television sets. In the ZDF program, which has existed since 1967, presenter Rudi Cerne (64) sheds light on unsolved criminal cases, while the RTL format accompanies bachelor David Jackson (32) in his search for the woman of his dreams. A look at the ratings of the evening makes it very clear that one of the two primetime shows was particularly well received.

As can be seen from the DWDL Zahlenzentrale, "Aktenzeichen XY... Unsolved" with 5.23 million viewers and a market share of 20.8 percent, left both ARD's competitor formats and RTL's productions behind. Of the total audience, only 1.42 million people (5.8 percent market share) tuned in to "The Bachelor" – a surprisingly low number for the season finale of a once-popular dome show.
Which audience set the record in Germany?
On 13 July 2014, ARD made television history: the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina (1-0 a.e.t.) was watched by an estimated 34.65 million people on their own television sets. Crazy: People who watched the game at public viewing or in bars, for example, were not included in this count. The actual number is therefore likely to be considerably higher.

In the target group of 14- to 49-year-olds, "The Bachelor" performed a lot better than the total audience and landed in fifth place with 0.95 million viewers – but here, too, "Aktenzeichen XY" was ahead with 1.05 million viewers. Overall, this year's "Bachelor" season should have proven to be a rather moderate success for RTL, because although the ratings for the finale were higher than those of the past few weeks, a clear downward trend can be seen.

The 2022 "Bachelor" season finale was watched by more than two million TV viewers at the time, according to dwdl.de, which is a significant difference from the results of recent weeks. With a market share of 3.7 percent, the May 5 episode also had the worst rating in the history of "The Bachelor" – not a good omen for the future of the dome show.
