The detention of Denis Mukin, the suspect in the murder of Diar Omari following an argument on the road, was extended today (Sunday) by another week. His lawyer, Yuval Zemer, criticized the police's conduct. He said Mukin had been interrogated only once since his arrest. "They decided it was a murder case and not looking for evidence," the lawyer said. "To see if the suspect's claim that he acted in true self-defense, they are looking to close the case."

The lawyer also claimed that Muqin fired twice to warn Omri, after which a struggle ensued in which Omri tried to snatch the weapon from Mukin's hands. When asked by Zemer, the police representative admitted that no metal remains had been examined on Diyar's hands, in order to negate or corroborate the suspect's claim that the deceased tried to snatch the gun from him.

Mukin is a 32-year-old reconnaissance veteran from Gan Ner with no criminal record. He allegedly shot and killed Omri, a 19-year-old resident of Sandela village, during a confrontation on the road that developed between the two. After the incident, marks of alcohol were found in Mukin's blood.

Meanwhile, Mukin's friends have launched a fundraising project to help him and his family - so far tens of thousands of shekels have been collected, Eden Malka said that "we are sure that this is not a nationalist event." Malka, who grew up with Mukin in the same community, said: "I've been friends with Denis since childhood, we were together all the time. We are a core of about 30 good friends. Dennis is a good man with no criminal record, who served in an elite unit in the army, serves in a special unit and is very active in the reserves. He serves the country."

Omri's father claimed it was premeditated murder. In an interview with Reshet Bet last week, he said, "After the right-wing government arrived, they asked them that anyone with a weapon should go with it. This guy did his job faithfully. What they told him - he did. That's how the hatred is introduced. You are instilling the hatred in our children." The father then pointed an accusing finger at National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir: "Since he has been in power, murders have increased by 50%. Who does he give weapons to? Right-wingers? Why don't all the Arab citizens who hold positions in hospitals get weapons?"

"The suspect took my son out of force in the car, my son got back in the car to run away and he shot him. Even in Africa, in Somalia, such a thing cannot happen," the father continued. "They say it's democracy, Ben-Gvir warms people, and in the end it turned out that he doesn't own the house. He is the house lock. Until when? Ben-Gvir, how long are you heating the street?"
