MK Tali Gottlieb appealed to Communications Minister Shlomo Krei on Sunday morning to shut down the broadcasts of channels 11, 12 and 13. Gottlieb did not provide an explicit explanation for her remarks, but it is believed to be related to coverage of Operation Shield and Arrow on all three channels.
For example, the main edition of Channel 13 appeared the day after the assassination of senior jihadists in Gaza, a headline that claimed, "With the approval of the prime minister, women and children were killed in the night attack." The publication provoked many reactions condemning the channel and claiming that it was misleading information, which the channel disseminated during a military campaign.
In a tweet, Gottlieb wrote: "There is the authority to stop media broadcasts during a special situation and during emergencies on the home front, as declared by the government. Mr. Minister, now is the time to silence broadcasts 11, 12, 13 within your authority under s. 13 of the Flash Law. With hatred and lies and damage to national resilience by propagandistic and offensive media channels, they respond in the only way they will understand."
The Minister of Communications has the authority to stop media broadcasts during a special situation and in times of emergency on the home front, as declared by the government.
Mr. Minister, now is the time to silence broadcasts 11, 12, 13 within your authority under s. 13 of the Flash Law. In hatred and lies and in the damage to national resilience by propagandistic and abusive media channels, they respond in the only way they will understand.

Minister Qari posted a tweet of his own: "My heart is also boiling, but I wouldn't want to live in a country where the communications minister or the government shut down channels that criticize them, even if they cross the border and sometimes confuse enemy with lover. The solution is my media reform, in which the only power is in the hands of the viewers. They determine. They pick up or download broadcasts. Just them."
Dear Tali,
My heart is also boiling, but I wouldn't want to live in a country where the communications minister or the government shut down channels that criticize them, even if they cross the border and sometimes confuse enemy with lover.
The solution is my media reform, in which the only power is in the hands of the viewers. They determine. They pick up or download broadcasts. Just them. https://t.co/8rhj2CovnY
