MK Tali Gottlieb (Likud) said Sunday night that "the broadcasts of channels 11, 12 and 13 must be silenced." This was in the framework of a tweet in which she addressed Communications Minister Shlomo Krei, in which she claimed that he has the authority to do so during a special situation and during emergencies on the home front. "With hatred and lies and damage to national resilience by propagandistic and offensive media channels, they respond in the only way they will understand," she wrote.
In the tweet, Gottlieb did not give a specific reason for the move, but it may be related to media coverage of Operation Shield and Arrow, which ended yesterday with the ceasefire announced at 22 p.m.

Gottlieb's remarks were met with harsh criticism, even from figures on the right side of the political map. "No," wrote activist for the deportation of asylum seekers from south Tel Aviv, Shefi Paz. "The right is always in favor of free speech. The right does not shut mouths. The public is smart enough to vote with the sign." Journalist Erel Segal also expressed displeasure. "Tali is a miserable tweet," he responded. Freedom of expression must not be violated, not even in the Idna Daritha section. Because I know you're against keeping your mouths shut. We fight for the truth and justice without harming the opponents' freedom of expression. We are not Bolsheviks."
Gottlieb's comments come after she declared that "the left betrayed the State of Israel" during a demonstration in support of the legal revolution in Netanya about a month ago, and after she blamed the president of the Supreme Court for the vehicular attack in Jerusalem's Ramot neighborhood, in which three people were murdered. For this statement she was punished by the Knesset Ethics Committee.
