Tal Ben Yosef, 54, was killed in the light plane crash Monday in northern Israel, in the area between Tuba Zangaria and Elifelet. A 30-year-old man was seriously injured in the crash and was hospitalized at Ziv Medical Center in Safed.
Chairman of the Hasmonean House Committee, Odell Avitan, sent a message to community members: "We are shocked, pained and heartbroken upon learning of Tal Ben Yosef's death. Tal was an exemplary family man, a member of the local committee and a beloved man in the community. He will be greatly missed. We share in the grief of family and friends. Details on the date of the funeral will be announced later. May his memory be blessed!"

Preliminary assessments indicate that a technical failure in the plane caused the accident. The plane apparently tried to return to Rosh Pina airport for an emergency landing but lost altitude too quickly and eventually crashed into the ground.
An aviation industry source told Israel Hayom: "The initial details indicate that the plane's engine shut down during the flight and the pilot reported this over the radio. Unfortunately for them, the pilot failed to land the plane safely and crashed. The aircraft, a Cessna 182, apparently suffered from a technical malfunction that may have been caused by poor maintenance."

MDA medics in the MDA Hatzalah-Air helicopter, Meir Ben Yair and Yoav Shusha, said: "We received the report of a light plane crash in an open area, and we immediately took off to the scene. After a few minutes of searching, we identified the wreckage of the plane on the ground. Although it is very rocky terrain and difficult to land - our state-of-the-art helicopter can land there and we landed near the crash site. We got out of the helicopter with all the necessary medical equipment and ran to the wreckage of the plane."
