Journalist Yitzhak Nachshoni, considered by many to be the "father of ultra-Orthodox journalism," passed away on Monday at the age of 69 after a battle with a serious illness.
He began his journalistic career at the newspaper "Baska" and as an editor at Kol Israel Radio. He served at the Army Radio station, after being the first ultra-Orthodox to pass the screening, a year after the Yom Kippur War. Later he served as spokesman for the military rabbinate and founded a weekly called "Friday".

Over the years, he trained many of the ultra-Orthodox journalists who are active today and is considered the "elder of the tribe."
