He is surrounded by service personnel and security, but when there is an emergency, King Charles personally rushes to the rescue.
Cambridge – On May 6, the world witnessed the coronation of King Charles III (74) at Westminster Abbey, but a few days later it was time for the newly crowned monarch to get back to work! Charles III had his first appointment at the University of Cambridge. There he visited the renowned Whittle laboratory and broke ground for a new research laboratory. Along the way, King Charles also proved to be a responsive gentleman.
Royal shoehorn: King Charles III lends a hand
King Charles III was in a good mood and relaxed after the burden of coronation fell off him. Jokingly, the monarch complained that the soil had already been loosened for him. "It's unfair. I was looking forward to a little gardening," said the nature-loving Charles, according to the Daily Mail after the groundbreaking. But then the British regent noticed that Dame Polly Courtice (70), the former director of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, was in trouble.
In order to be able to see King Charles' groundbreaking ceremony up close, Polly Courtice had entered the meadow – and her heel got stuck in the damp earth. Charles III, noticing the adversity, rushed to the aid and, to the applause of the bystanders, supported Courtice so that she could put her shoe back on.

Dame Polly Courtice said after the incident that the ground was very soft. King Charles' chivalrous dedication praised her in the highest terms. "He was very nice. My shoe got stuck in the ground and it gallantly supported me." Charles III has mastered his first mission after the coronation with flying colors in every respect.
