A 41-year-old man, residing in Bourgoin-Jallieu (Isère), was indicted at the end of last week and placed in provisional detention, says the Grenoble prosecutor's office. The forty-year-old is suspected of raping a 4-year-old child he was babysitting. The suspect was also charged with possession and habitual access to child pornography images.
According to Le Dauphiné libéré, which revealed the case, it was the testimony of the 4-year-old child that "led the gendarmes to investigate a Berjallien, order picker, whose one of his secondary activities was childcare". The young boy told police he had been raped "several times".
The suspect has already been convicted of possession of child pornography images in 2012 and is registered in Fijais, the sex offender file. Investigations are underway to find out if there are other potential victims, the man having looked after more than 200 children since the beginning of his babysitter work.
