Jonathan Welper, chairman of the Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance, congratulated the police, who he said took the threats seriously, but stressed that it was sad to see "that the public legitimacy for violence and incitement against the gay community still exists, and even grows, and our residency towards it is the continuation of the gay struggle."

The Gay Pride Parade in Jerusalem is expected to take place on June 1. In recent years, the parade has been considered one of the most secure events for which the police are prepared. On the day of the parade, roads and streets throughout the city will be closed to vehicular traffic. This is the 21st year of the parade, which will open this year's National Pride Month events.
