Highlights: The City of Buenos Aires takes the tests in the streets, with double command cars. The driving test is now done on the streets of different communes with dual-command cars. After the last reform, the system allows to do the complete procedure in a Communal Headquarters of choice, and in a single visit with a previous shift that can be requested by WhatsApp or by the web. If the applicant passes, they give him the license on the spot. If you fail, you can try again up to two more times without having to do (and pay) all the paperwork again.

They are detected in the street evaluation of the City of Buenos Aires and can prevent the applicant from taking the registration. The ranking.

The first attempt is not always successful. Sometimes, not the second either. Due to nerves, distractions or lack of training, those who aspire to get their driver's license often make mistakes that make them fail the practical exam. And that they force them to return another day to repeat the evaluation, if they intend to obtain registration.

In the City of Buenos Aires, which since August 2022 takes the tests in the streets, with double command cars and in the middle of real traffic, they detected that the applicants incur in faults of all kinds to the road regulations. But some are seen more often than others.

There are serious errors that are eliminatory: they cause the person to automatically disapprove.

Others, milder, allow to continue with the exam, although they are adding points – as if they were yellow cards – and can lead to a "blow" by accumulation.

From the Buenos Aires government, before the consultation of Clarín, they revealed what are the most typical mistakes made by those who take the exam. And they recalled the main keys to overcome it.

The ABCs of the new driver's license exam in the City

After the last reform, the system allows to do the complete procedure in a Communal Headquarters of choice, and in a single visit with a previous shift that can be requested by WhatsApp or by the web.

The procedure indicates that, if he passes the psychophysical evaluations and the theoretical exam, the neighbor will be instructed to go outside and walk to the examination car, where an agent will be waiting for him.

Then the evaluator will tell you to sit behind the wheel and drive through the neighborhood following a preset and monitored circuit, until you return to the starting point. There, as a final challenge, you will have to park between two fences.

If the applicant passes, they give him the license on the spot. But if you fail, you can try again up to two more times without having to do (and pay) all the paperwork again.

What else should those who perform know and how to know the routes?

The evaluation has an estimated duration of 15 minutes. The circuit is signposted and it is very helpful to walk it before the exam, identifying the posters and possible difficulties.

The aspirants can know in advance the dashboard of the car, the route and all the details of the practical test on the official site (from here), as explained in the Secretariat of Citizen Attention and Community Management of Buenos Aires.

Likewise, when the time comes, "each evaluator usually holds a previous talk with the applicant to tell him how the route is and what the exam consists of, know if he could read the instructions and communicate the scores of each fault, being some eliminatory, "they clarified.

Minor failures have a penalty of 1 point, others of a somewhat greater severity add 2 points, those that are a little more serious 3 points and the most serious of all 8 points. When you reach 8 the exam is failed, while reaching the end with 7 or less allows you to take the record.

"We have enabled 11 offices with this new modality that allows you to do the process, opting for manual or automatic checkout, and leave with the license on the day," said Julia Domeniconi, the official in charge of the area.

"Based on the experience recorded to date, we share what are the main faults of the applicants so that the driving practice is adjusted to the rules and is incorporated as good driving behavior when taking the exam," he said.

Driver's license: what are the 5 most common faults detected in the new driving test?

1. Bad start: leaving without warning. Seconds before leaving the "drawer" where the car is parked, it is appropriate to signal the maneuver with the turn signal. Skipping this step is a slight fault, but the most common. It is punished with 1 point.

2. Speeding. During the exam you can not drive more than 30 km / h on streets or more than 45 km / h on avenues. In addition, the limits indicated by signs on each block must be strictly respected. For example, the 20 km / h when passing through a school. Going faster than allowed is a serious and eliminatory foul.

3. Not respecting the pedestrian. A recurring fault is to ignore that, because they are weaker, those who go on foot have priority of passage when crossing. Stopping the vehicle invading the pedestrian path is another very common mistake. They are serious faults for which the examiner will add 3 points.

4. Do not warn before parking. Many, when braking at the end point of the circuit, forget to activate the beacons (flashing lights) to alert those coming behind about the maneuver. This omission also lowers the grade: it costs 2 points.

5. Not parking properly. If the first attempt did not leave the car in the admitted position, the examiner will admit only one more. Many fail by failing a second time or by incurring other eliminatory fouls during maneuvers, such as hitting fences, knocking them down or climbing the cordon.

What other faults do neighbors frequently commit in the practical exam?

At the beginning of the exam, according to the examiners, it is common for those who surrender not to know the commands of the vehicle, to start with the handbrake on, not to put on the seat belt and to misuse the clutch or the gearbox.

During the tour, meanwhile, other common failures are not respecting the instructions of the examiner, driving with only one hand on the steering wheel, that the vehicle turns off and ignoring the "STOP" signs or even the traffic light.

One by one, what are the eliminatory errors in the driving test?

The City Government warns that it automatically disapproves of whom:

-Does not recognize pedalboard (clutch, brake and accelerator).

-Does not know how to recognize or manipulate the gearbox.

-You do not wear your seat belt or take it off during the exam.

-Knocks or knocks down the fences of the parking lot or climbs the cordon.

-

Disobeys orders and directions from the traffic control authority.

-Does not follow safety instructions from the evaluator.

-Does not respect the indication of march during the first block.

-Does not maintain control of the vehicle.

-Makes reckless maneuvers that generate risk or traffic incidents.

-Drive on roads, lanes or directions not allowed.

-Cross at a red light.

-Exceeds the maximum speed.

-Use your cell phone, headphones or video players while driving.

-Does not yield to emergency vehicles.

-Lane crossing in a prohibited place (demarcated with a solid line).

-

Overtake on the right or in prohibited areas.

-Requires more than two attempts to park.

-Finish the parking maneuver more than 50 centimeters from the cordon.
