Spoilt for choice

Attention, cult piece! Sébastien Azzopardi and Sacha Danino, the authors of Dernier coup de scisseaux and La Dame Blanche, offer you an interactive theatrical madness at the Gaîté Montparnasse. On stage, the actors offer the audience the opportunity to influence the narrative: lie or truth, leave or stay, marriage or celibacy. On the program, a dozen possible scenarios! Funny, original and without downtime, the play is nominated this year (unsurprisingly) in the category "Best comedy" at the Molières.

Spoilt for choice at the Gaîté Montparnasse – 26, rue de la Gaîté in Paris (14th).

The Campaign

With two Molières nominations this year ("Comédienne dans un spectacle de Théâtre public" for Isabelle Carré and "Comédienne dans un second role" for Manon Clavel), this is one of the must-see plays of the season. Directed by Sylvain Maurice, this adaptation of the work of the British Martin Crimp describes the story of a couple fleeing London to settle in La Campagne, in a bucolic and peaceful bubble... But the case quickly turns into a thriller.

The Montespan

After triumphing at the Off festival in Avignon and at the Théâtre de la Huchette in Paris, it is at the Gymnase that you can now discover Le Montespan, a successful adaptation of Jean Teulé's novel. Salomé Villiers, who won the Molière for female revelation in 2022 for this piece, magnifies here the main ingredient that made the success of the book: its text, rock'n'roll and acid at will! On the menu, the torments of a man, Louis-Henri de Pardaillan, Marquis de Montespan, to whom the Sun King blew the woman: Françoise de Rochechouart.

No Limit

Take a little Monty Python, add a zest of Marx Brothers, a pinch of Buster Keaton and you get No Limit, burlesque nugget signed Robin Goupil at the Théâtre de la Tour Eiffel. Nominated at the Molières 2023 in the "best comedy" category, this crazy new creation plunges you into the middle of the Cold War. A group of American bombers was mistakenly ordered to atomize Moscow. It is absolutely necessary to correct the situation... And quickly, time is running out!

The return of Richard 3 by the 9:24 train

Also nominated for the Molières this year, in the "comedy" category, The Return of Richard 3 by the 9:24 train, at the Théâtre La Bruyère, is one of the (very) great successes of the season. As funny as it is touching, it depicts the vagaries of PH (for "Pierre-Henri"), suffering from an incurable disease, who invites the members of his family to spend a week in his country house. The idea: allow everyone to empty their bag before they pass the weapon to the left. In other words, nothing will go as planned...

Ego-system, the museum of your existence

To finish this Printemps des Spectacles selection, we offer you an original and atypical musical piece, a cappella (created as part of the Mises en Capsules festival), written by Raphaël Callandreau. We discover Alban, a single thirty-year-old in full professional transition, in the grip of an existential crisis. During a drunken evening with friends, he ingests an unusual pastry that will propel him on a psychedelic inner journey... On the stage of the Théâtre Essaion, an exceptional quartet transports you to a hallucinating fantasy universe. We're asking for more!

The Hoby of the Baskervilles

Did you like The Fake British and Prince Ludwig's Big Diamond? You will love The of the Baskervilles! Carried by the same team (director Gwen Aduh in the lead), this hair-raising detective comedy is a free adaptation - deliciously zany - of Arthur Conan Doyle's novel. Gags, puns, anachronisms, nonsense, everything goes! Enough to relax the mind and work your zygomatics.
