The Accusation Commission of the Council of the Magistracy suspended on Wednesday the federal judge of Mendoza Walter Bento who is with firm prosecution in a case that investigates a gang that sold judicial favors to a smuggler and for illicit enrichment.
In this way, the suspension will be voted on the 31st of this month in the plenary of the body where there would be a majority in favor of that measure so that it does not supervise the PASO and general elections in Mendoza.
The suspension is the first step for a political trial that can end with the dismissal of the judge who has an order of preventive detention pending by the privileges he has as magistrates.
The one who made the argument in favor of the suspension, after three years of debate, was the radical senator Eduardo Vischi but the deputy and judicial operator of Cristina Kirchner, Rodolfo Tailhade, proposed to reject the procedure again and tried to block the decision of the body.
For her part, Deputy Roxana Reyes of the UCR said that Bentos should be suspended because "he should be under preventive pressure." And judges Diego Barrotaveña and Alberto Lugones were able to vote on it in plenary and "not in this impeachment commission."
The most emphatic in support of the suspension was the president of the Accusation Commission Miguel Piedecasas. While PRO deputy Álvaro González also voted for the suspension.
It went to a vote and the suspension was supported by a majority.
