Three murders in five days. Between 9 and 13 May, a series of settling of scores, against a background of drug trafficking, took place in the prefecture of Drôme. During the night of 9 to 10 May, several bursts of shots were fired in the Fontbarlettes district, killing one person and seriously wounding one. Two days later, a new man was shot dead on his scooter outside a Valencia 2 shopping mall near a McDonald's restaurant. The next day, a new man was killed outside a bar, also in Valencia.
Two suspects arrested
Seized of the file for "aggravated murders" the prosecutor of Lyon indicated that investigations entrusted to the judicial police were underway. Two people were taken into custody as part of the investigation.
A first was heard in connection with the murder committed in a bar in Valencia on Saturday, May 13. A police custody "lifted during the afternoon this Tuesday for lack of elements to implicate the person concerned," says the prosecutor of the republic. Another man was arrested and questioned in connection with the murder committed near the McDonald's restaurant on the night of May 11-12, 2023. "This custody is still ongoing and has just been extended," said Tuesday evening the prosecutor's office of Lyon.
After this series of murders, 70 CRS were deployed in the city of Valencia and will remain there until at least May 21.
